Telstra Sing Terrorism Threat

Telstra's shakedown of the government's handling of the FTTN Network initiative has been taken another level. This time the telco giant is suggesting that the threat of 'terrorism' could loom if the fibre to the node broadband network tendering goes to the Optus led consortium who has links to SingTel (a foreign owned company). It appears there's no stopping Telstra's executives and the somewhat 'extreme lengths' they're going to when trying to convince the government that a FTTN network developed, constructed, owned and operated by them is the way to go.

TELSTRA public affairs boss Phil Burgess has suggested Australia would be vulnerable to terrorist attacks if the telecommunications company didn't get its way in the broadband debate.

Telstra has continually highlighted Optus's foreign links through its parent company SingTel, which is majority owned by the Singapore Government's investment vehicle, Temasek.
